What's your podcast doing this summer?
Plus, behind the sound of the Barton Fink mosquito and a new social audio app
Consistency is key in podcasting, but what if you're taking a break this summer? Here are some ways to plan ahead and keep your show going strong…
Batch record episodes. Pre-record and edit a few episodes now so you can schedule them while you're away.
Create shorts. Look at your podcast host data and create short versions of your most popular episodes.
Create a summer series. Pre-record a series of episodes on a topic you're passionate about.
Ask extra questions. If you have guests lined up between now and when you intend to be away, ask them some quick-fire questions at the end of the interview. Save the audio and create some bonus episodes to go out while you’re away.
Find a guest host. Ask a friend or colleague to take over your show for a few weeks. Return the favour for them when they need to take a break.
Take a break. Go off-air for a few weeks. Just be sure to let your listeners know when you'll be back. (**BONUS TIP** cheat podfade by pre-recording some episodes you can publish once you are back at your desk. Your future self will thank you for it!)
By planning ahead, you can ensure your podcast continues to thrive even when you're not around.
