Stop: I didn’t mean to disappear
Back in December 2023 I never meant to stop. Christmas crept in, then life got loud - and what was meant to be a short pause for Stop Rewind Play stretched far longer than planned. If you’ve stuck around, thank you. If you’re new here, welcome.
It’s time to press play again!
Rewind: What’s staying the same
The format you know is still here:
⏪ A handpicked library of links in the Rewind section (thanks to everyone who filled out the survey - this showed up overwhelmingly as your favourite bit)
▶️ A recommendation in the Play section - but this won’t be someone else’s show anymore because…
Stop Rewind Play is now also a podcast!
Every fortnight I’ll release a 10-minute episode diving deeper into the topic we’re exploring here - perfect for audio-first folks who prefer to listen on the go. Same tone, same themes, but with room to expand.
And yes, sonic branding will be part of it, but bear with me! It doesn’t sound exactly as I would like it to yet. If I wait for it to be perfect it may never see the light of day! I’m looking forward to working with the very best of sonic branding experts over the coming months, and documenting the journey to finding my sound right here in future editions of Stop Rewind Play.
Play: What’s coming up
▶️ To keep everyone up to date with the latest podcast and audio news the Rewind link library will hit your inbox weekly.
▶️ The full newsletter and podcast will be fortnightly, giving space for better ideas, deeper thinking, and more sustainable creation.
Over the past year I’ve found myself back in familiar territory - working closely with newsrooms and media teams, using my audio skills while going back to my journalism roots. So if you’ve been wondering how podcasts are really being used in publishing, or what separates forgettable audio from the stuff that sticks, you’re in the right place.
